Who’s Your God? – Written by Brian Johanson
You’ve got a hard-on for heaven & you’re not even living
You’re just concerned w/ your holy worth
You’re so busy screaming & you’re so lousy preaching
You don’t see that you’re making hell on earth
One god, one truth, one perspective to boot
& you’ve made them all white males like you and me
Why not a pantheon or a fish god that can spawn
A brand new breed of slippery deities
Who’s your god, I don’t care, I just want you to be kind
I know that your identity lies in your eschatology
It must be nice to think only you are right
What an awful world to live, what a shallow pond to swim
Nobody’s home but you left on all the lights
Is your god obtuse or has this all just been a ruse?
Has the world just lost our collective mind?
If you don’t like it in the end I guess you can just send
Your thoughts and prayers on up to the sky
Who’s your god, I don’t care, I just want you to be kind
Your god is your reflection & it’s no peak of perfection
Better clean that mirror next time
Cast a spell, chant a chant, sing a hymn or post a rant
I’d rather be listening to John Prine
Who’s your god, I don’t care, I just want you to be kind
Who’s your god, I don’t care, I just want you to be kind
